NFA Engraved FTN Washers, Tubing, and More
You've already spent all that time and effort getting your stamp, why skimp out now? Do you hate your dog?
Why do I need an engraved washer or tubing?
When you make a suppressor under an ATF Form 1 you become the legal maker of that NFA firearm and are responsible for applying the required identifying information under federal law. Federal regulations in 27 CFR 479.102 require that a firearm (including a silencer) be permanently marked with the maker’s name (or trust/LLC name), city and state, model, caliber, and a unique serial number in a way that is not susceptible to being readily obliterated, altered, or removed. Those required markings must be applied by engraving, casting, stamping, or similar means to a minimum depth of 0.003 inch and with the serial number at least 1/16 inch in print size. You can’t rely on embossing the information into a printed body because it won’t meet durability standards specified in the Code of Federal Regulations. Section 5 of 479.102 specifically states, "The depth of all markings required by this section is measured from the flat surface of the metal and not the peaks or ridges" indicating the markings cannot be embossed into the printed body itself. A basic metal stamping kit can’t deliver consistent, compliant marks on washers or tubing. Laser engraving ensures your suppressor meets the federal marking requirements and avoids compliance issues under both the National Firearms Act and the relevant ATF regulations.
